Celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year in
Sibu without fireworks is not
Sibu people's way of welcoming an auspicious new year. Even 30
mins before the clock struck 12a.m. the whole skies of
Sibu was already an decorated airspace with fireworks which usually last an hour or more.

Despite, this town which is well-known for its biggest fireworks show in Sarawak (rumours say that
Sibu is the main supplier of fireworks to some major city in Sarawak =X) & its infamous high profile gangs/mafia,
Sibu is also famous because it is a flood prone town.

In the year of the OX, almost the entire
Sibu was flooded. The big flood happens almost every year nearer to the Lunar New Year that it became an indication that New Year is coming!

The water level of river adjacent to my residential area rose up almost 2 metres high!

So high that the river almost flood the road too. The situation in the town area is a lot
worser than here. The roads in the town is only passable by vehicle like
Hilux & other
SUVs. It sucks a lot to live in town that is flooded so often. What happen to the millions of dollars that are allocated to Sarawak for river migration?
